The Healthy Communities Partnership is excited to unveil a new project between Purdue Extension, the Evansville Parks Department and the Evansville Trails Coalition. The colloboration will bring a new recreational asset to the community: a Bike Skills Park. This park aims to provide a safe environment for inexperienced riders to learn essential biking skills and traffic navigation techniques.
While most of the funding for the project has been secured, the team is actively engaged in fundraising efforts to bridge this financial gap and realize their vision for the park. We plan on installation to commence in the fall of 2024, pending successful fundraising efforts. The Bike Skills Park is poised to become a significant community resource, offering a controlled environment where youth and novice cyclists can develop their biking proficiency under supervised conditions. This initiative is expected to benefit numerous local organizations that serve youth, providing them with a dedicated space to conduct bike safety training programs. |
